Zombies Got Me!

I recently picked up EA’s latest zombie shooter Left 4 Dead . Usually FPS’s don’t pique my interest, but the emphasis based on co-op gameplay really seemed appealing. When the game’s over, it’s not about how many computer monsters you’ve taken out, it’s about the fun you have with your friends.

While the campaign mode is undoubtedly a high level of entertainment, the online multi-player has truely innovating play style. You & your team take turns being the Survivors or the Zombie attackers. A friend of mine described the zombie perspective as “organized greifing”, which it is. If you’ve got some initial interest, but are still hesistant, give it a good look.

Gmail Themes

A few hours ago, when checking my mail tab, i noticed the colors were slightly off. The blue was a bit bluer, the text that was black was now white. It’s as though someone was messing with the css. Turns out they were!

A few minutes later i relaoded the page, and saw a message up at the top:

There’s some pretty cool ones available, totalling about 35. You can see thumbnails of the schemes here.

After looking at the same interface for the better part of 4 years, it’s pretty amazing to see some of the options available:

Not all the themes are are so graphically based, most are simply color modifications to the original. At the time I wrote this, google has not placed an official post on their gmail blog. Check out their official post, laiden with examples.

It’s also worth noting that at this time, it does not appear to be an option for my google apps based gmail account.

Though expansion of features is overdue in the perpetually Beta Gmail, it is a great to get - and hey, it’s still free.

Phillies’ World Championship Parade. Amazing!

After biking from my place down Kelley drive & across Chestnut (passing gridlocked cars) I finally made it to Danielle’s work, where we watched the parade go by from the roof (approx 24 floors).

Here’s one of the better shots I got facing down South Broad Street. If you look in the background you can see the Ballpark. After a week full of terrible weather, the city was rewarded with a superb day for a parade. Everyone loves a parade & millions turned out to prove it!

Yankee Stadium

It’s nice to be a part of history. I’ve finally managed to make it to one of Major League Baseball’s holiest of shrines, Yankee Stadium. This was the third to last game played in The House That Ruth Built, and it did not disappoint. I took a buncha pictures, and one giant panarama for posterity.

So the other weekend we had a party, the kind with beer, and things went very well. First place won an autographed photo of the three roomates (as seen below), but wouldn’t you know it, they forgot to take it with them!
